So what is the Bombardier #C-Series anyway?

Porter Airlines Dash-8 at Ottawa Macdonald-Car...

It’s a nice looking jet and it’s great to see that a #Canadian company may possibly compete with the likes of #Airbus and #Boeing. Seating between 100 – 149 seats and leaving a smaller environmental footprint I dare to say that maybe “less is more”. With the rumors of Porter Airlines purchasing these jets it will be interesting to see what happens in the long-term. Will they expand Billy Bishop Airport? Will these planes fly out of Montreal? Maybe, with the new Airport link, they will fly out of Pearson? What about Hamilton, Oshawa Airport or Buttonville? We will have to wait and see what actually happens today at the announcement. Hopefully the Bombardier C-Series will shake up the industry. Maybe we are just a bit nostalgic over the prominent days of the Avro Arrow and Canada being on top once again.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

The Bombardier CSeries is a family of narrow-bodytwin-engine, medium-range jet airliners that are being developed by Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace. Models are the 110-seat CS100, and the 130-seat CS300. These were initially named C110 and C130, respectively. In November 2012, Bombardier announced that the CS100 would take its maiden flight in June 2013 and enter service in 2014.

BREAKING NEWS: Air Canada employees wildcat strike at Pearson

Air Canada baggage handlers have walked off the job at Pearson Airport. Twitter is a blaze with angry travellers who are unable to get their bags, board plans or even get off their plane. I am not sure if this is going to help their cause, as it may just speed up the demise of Air Canada and more government involvement by the Conservatives. If you are heading to Pearson you will need to check your flight ahead of time. If you have a connecting flight, at another airport, you may want to check your arrival or departure.

Lack of transit link between airport and downtown Toronto embarrassing

Pearson AirportIt’s an embarrassment that Canada’s busiest airport still isn’t linked to Toronto’s downtown core by public transit and getting it done should be a priority, federal Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon said Friday.

In a speech to the Toronto Board of Trade, Cannon called it unbelievable that a world-class city like Toronto doesn’t have the transit infrastructure that’s so common in big cities around the world.

“It’s an embarrassment, I do believe that, and I hope the government of Ontario will see fit to change their mind on that,” Cannon later said in an interview.

The provincial government has allowed an environmental assessment to get bogged down for two years now and has dragged its heels on a project that could reduce gridlock, he said.

He said the province should do whatever it takes to get the important project launched, and could pursue a public-private partnership like the $2-billion Canada Line rail-based rapid transit service linking downtown Vancouver to its airport and beyond to Richmond, B.C.
