The Best Sushi in the GTA – Ajax, Ontario in Durham

I do not normally comment on food, however today I will make an exception. I just had some of the best sushi I have EVER tasted. If you are a fan of sushi / Japanese food you will not be disappointed. It is located at 50 Kingston Road East in Ajax (beside Casey’s) with Dine in / Take Out & Party Trays. In case you are not sure they are in the RioCan Durham Centre in Ajax.

The service is awesome and the prices are good!

  1. Makimono isn’t bad but if you want the real deal, there is only ONE authentic Japanese restaurant in Durham and it’s Kobo!

I have lived in Japan and searched for a long time for real Japanese food near my house in Ajax, I found Kobo a couple of years ago and have been there at least once per week since then.

They are on Kingston road in Pickering between Whites and Rosebank

    • Makimono is not very good in the food department nice enough staff but food wise on the bottom of the list for japanese restaurants.

  2. There’s also a place down on Harwood (south of the highway 2) and a the SE corner of Mandrake/Gardiner – just south of the Mac’s corner store and Texas Burger – that place is called Sushi T&T. I’ve been there a couple of times with my older sister and it’s quite good.

btw, it’s an all you can eat place.

There’s also Sushi Mountain, located on Westney and Highway 2 – right at the Westney Heights Plaza.

  3. There is so many japan food rest. but i like the Sushi Mountain.

  4. akashia on Kingston road @ church Street in the village is my favorite – it is small and Jun and Edwina take care with presentation. Always Fresh! A nice local place.

  5. Tis really good sushi

Just opened in Oakville: OC’s at Stoneboats — British Columbia Sushi —- was there on the weekend and it was THE best I’ve had in my life…

  7. Thanks for the info, I’ll put this on my where to eat list.
    All the best

    • There is another location at 1790 Liverpool Road, across from the Pickering Town Centre. It is an all-you-can eat location, by the same owners. The Ajax location is smaller, but I like the design. However if you want to get a “full belly” of eats try the location in Pickering. Been there a few times and it’s quite good.
