And you didn’t like Comcast’s TCP resets. Something far more egregious is going on in Canada, where Bell Canada has been engaged in deep-packet inspection of traffic. Bell is using DPI to find and limit the use of peer-to-peer applications such as BitTorrent, which it says are congesting its network, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports.
The [...]

As I have mentioned before if the PC’s decide to go the “neo-conservative” route, and it plays out in the public eye as an “internal turf” of their leader, it maybe many years before they ever hold the seat of power in Ontario again. Insiders have also said that the people who want John Tory [...]

It’s an embarrassment that Canada’s busiest airport still isn’t linked to Toronto’s downtown core by public transit and getting it done should be a priority, federal Transport Minister Lawrence Cannon said Friday.
In a speech to the Toronto Board of Trade, Cannon called it unbelievable that a world-class city like Toronto doesn’t have the transit infrastructure [...]

New legislation will be introduced today to end to trans fat and junk foods in school cafeterias and vending machines.
“Our kids’ health is just too important to risk,” said Premier Dalton McGuinty. “Trans fats have no place in our schools and we’ve got to act now.”

Immigrants are still choosing to start their lives in Canada in one of the “big three” -Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver - but there are signs of changing times.
Among all the census metropolitan areas, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver again attracted most of Canada’s new immigrants, according to 2006 census data on immigration released Tuesday by Statistics [...]

TORONTO (AP) — Canadian Football League commissioner Mark Cohon believes all signs point to an NFL team being placed in Toronto. It’s the first time the league has taken such a definitive stance on the subject. “All of the tea leaves are indicating that it’s shifting,” Cohon said Friday.

TORONTO - There is a “compelling case” for Ontario to become the first province in Canada to ban a potentially harmful chemical found in common plastic baby products and linked to adulthood cancer, Premier Dalton McGuinty said Tuesday after meeting with experts and parents pushing for a ban of bisphenol A.
The governing Liberals are going [...]

It looks like the GTTA has received funding for the following projects. Maybe I am still in disbelief until I see shovels in the ground? I am not in favour of all of the plans listed, but this definitely will be some good news for once for public transit in the Greater Toronto Area. What [...]

I am no lover of Nuclear power and its by-product. Nuclear waste! Taking close to 10,000 years to simply become safe for handling or disposal, seems to be an extreme and dare I say “insane” option. However, no energy source is perfect, right? Some have tried to claim that nuclear energy comes close to perfection. [...]

Who would think that this is happening in Ontario? We are so tolerant of others that you would think that this would be occurring somewhere else. Unfortunately racism and bigotry occurs all around and now some of the hate crimes that happened have placed a stain on Simcoe country’s once tranquil atmosphere. By: Andy MJ

“Everything is proceeding as Dalton McGuinty had foreseen”. John Tory was supposed to lead Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives to certain victory over the “supposed” dark side; however he led them instead to a resounding defeat. Emperor Dalton McGuinty became the province’s first Liberal leader in 70 years to claim a second straight majority government. Albeit, one [...]

Regardless on how you feel about Greg Sorbara, he will be greatly missed from the Liberal cabinet. They have lost an extremely intelligent and expereinced person. Unfortunately, now Dalton McGuinty will have to quickly replace the Finance Minister with a new MPP. It will interesting to see who he decides to replace him with [...]
