A midnight strike by the TTC caught many people off guard, some showing up early this morning expecting a train, bus or streetcar only to find the lines abandoned. Last night, clubgoers poured out of bars when news of the strike spread.
“No way, no way,” Jorge Bayona, out with friends at Yonge-Dundas Square, said at [...]

As I have mentioned before if the PC’s decide to go the “neo-conservative” route, and it plays out in the public eye as an “internal turf” of their leader, it maybe many years before they ever hold the seat of power in Ontario again. Insiders have also said that the people who want John Tory [...]

“Everything is proceeding as Dalton McGuinty had foreseen”. John Tory was supposed to lead Ontario’s Progressive Conservatives to certain victory over the “supposed” dark side; however he led them instead to a resounding defeat. Emperor Dalton McGuinty became the province’s first Liberal leader in 70 years to claim a second straight majority government. Albeit, one [...]

Toronto Council has finally passed the controversial new land-transfer tax and vehicle registration tax/fee. Although a compromise was needed, Toronto should now have the stable funding that they require to run the city. Barring that the housing market does not go bust or everyone in Toronto decides to sell their car. This would never happen? [...]

History may be written by the victors, but the vanquished always try to get in their licks. When it became clear last week that John Tory and his Progressive Conservatives weren’t going to achieve their dream of a majority government in Ontario, his supporters cranked up the spin machine. I could hear its whirring behind [...]

In reading the history of Toronto and the TTC, high investments were made in public transit, which helped the TTC become one of the top transit systems in North America. However during an episode of the Agenda with Steve Paikin, which airs on TVO, one of the panelists mentioned that we need to make investments [...]

The ‘Dalton McGuinty Show’ just aired on CFRB, between noon and 1PM. In an effort to be totally unbiased on this issue, I did listen to all of the leadership candidates and in general they all did a great job. Albeit I did not think that the Green Party leader, Frank De Jong, needed to [...]

Polling is an interesting subject. Over the weekend the Toronto Star published the various polls, which seem to indicate that the Liberals will be victorious on October 10, 2007. However, what is more interesting is the 905 region. There are a lot of, dare I say, extremely close ridings. Who knows how the vote [...]

The faith based funding issue should have been about simple human rights. The U.N has already indicated that the practice of funding only Catholic schools in Ontario is unjust. John Tory hoped to address this issue by fixing the problem and allowing fairness. Fund all or fund none, and he opted to fund all. Unfortunately, [...]

NDP Leader Howard Hampton yesterday injected the most honest talk we’ve heard from any political leader into this utterly bizarre election campaign.
Asked what he’d say to voters poised to give Premier Dalton McGuinty a second majority government, while ignoring his record of fibs and broken promises in favour of the minor issue of stopping public [...]

Reports indicate Conservative leader John Tory could change his plans on how he’ll bring in funding of faith-based schools. Campaign sources have told the Toronto Sun Tory is expected to announce that if he forms the next government he would put the issue to a free vote in the Legislature, rather than insist Conservative MPPs [...]
